Umpire Disputes Umpire's Decision, and that really is something for the baseball book, because here is one case where the umpire can't kick out a man for arguing. The strange incident took place at Washington after Umpire-in-Chief John Quinn (right), had ruled that Jake Early, Washington catcher, had interfered with Bob Kennedy of the Chicago White Sox, the batter. Umpire Bill McGowan, working at third base, differed with Quin, this being the photographic evidence. Ken Chase, Washington pitcher, is at the left, while First-baseman Zeke Bonura is laughing at his argument. With his back to the camera, but undoubtedly enjoying the act, is Jimmy Dykes, Chicago manager, who has had plenty of arguments with umpires.
