Suspect and missing wife

Cecil Rice (above), local ice plant operator charged with first degree murder in the alleged slaying of his wife, Agnes, (also above) reportedly received a telegram from her yesterday from Dallas, Texas. Rice, presently free on bond and scheduled to go on trial at Arkansas City Tuesday, was arrested Dec.12 after a Desha County sheriff quoted him as saying he threw his wife's body into a river following a drinking bout. Dallas police are investigating the alleged telegram.
