Thomaston, Conn. -- Easy Does It! -- This lumberjacking by helicopter experiment was performed successfully at Thomaston Tuesday under direction of John E. O'Leary of Oregon State's School of Forestry. Sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service, the test is to see how useful 'copters would be in remote area logging camps. The Sikorsky s-58 helicopter successfully towed a 76-foot hemlock.
