Opposite the fountain we see the facade of the church, with shops on either side. In the foreground are carts, drawn by mules and oxen. On the left a man digs; a priest stands on the right near a rock, above which a massive pilaster rises, with a Corinthian capital. The man digging on the left has had his right arm darkened, and his right leg extended to the left. To right of him is a new patch of shadow on the ground. The horse’s mouth has been altered.
