Thomas Gambino (L) is shown in custody outside police headquarters here 1/29. Charged with strangling Laura Macaluso, 19, an unemployed waitress, in a Times Square area hotel last week, Gambino was identified by police as a 26-year-old boxer from California. It was reported that Boston, Mass., police were interested in questioning him about 12 similar slayings.
