Here is a portrait of 22-year-old Norma Kotler, comely Astoria stenographer who was found strangled in her Astoria home by a neighbor whose curiosity was aroused by an open door. Police said the young woman's body lay across the bed fully clothed, even to a hat and cloth coat. On her neck were red welts, possibly from the rope used by the mysterious slayer who vanished without leaving a clue.
