This Was the Reds' Second Hit It was two out in the ninth and Monte Pearson had limited the Reds to one miserable hit when he faces Werber, Cincinnati's third baseman. Pearson shot one down the middle, Werber swung and the ball went into left field for the National League champs' second hit. Here's the scene, Pearson pitching, Herber connecting and the ball shown directly in front of him. But it did no good, for the Yankees shut out the Reds 4-0 in this, the second game of the World Series in New York.
