In the foreground a stone balustrade interrupted by two pedestals on which statues stand, seen from the back, dark against the sky. Two priests walk towards the right near the first statue; over them rises the obelisk of the Piazza del Popolo. The second statue is overhung by a tree. The balustrade is Incomplete; the backs of the statues are only partially shaded; there are only a few light lines in the sky between the heads of the two statues.
