This Is the Mechanical Age Yet You Couldn't Tell It From This Photograph. In the unmolested areas of northern France, where for some reason or other, machinery has not yet been harnessed to the wheels of industry such quaint sights, as it pictured above, are still in evidence. The dog treadmill is not at all uncommon. The dog in running turns the huge wheel which is belted to a pump which in turn draws water into a market gardener's tank for irrigation purposes. This is a scene at Orleans.
