They’re Off! The big league season opened in Washington April 12 with President Roosevelt throwing out the first ball, starting the tilt between the Washington Senators and the Philadelphia Athletics. The Senators won, 4 to 1. Above is a general view of the opening of hostilities, and the crowded, flag-bedecked stands.
