"The Little General" of the Suffolk County Mothers' March on Polio, Carolyn Tessin, 5, of Brighton, proudly points to the banner under which more than 10,000 Suffolk County women (and men too) march tonight (January 27) to collect funds, in a house-to-house canvass, for the continued care and treatment of March of Dimes patients like Carolyn. Signal to be used by residents to indicate their willingness to contribute to the polio drive between 7 and 8 p.m. will be a lighted porchlight, and, in the case of apartment and hotel dwellers, a shoe or handkerchief tied to the doorknob.
