Twenty-eight persons were reported killed in the Alaskan port town of Valdez (shown nestled on Prince William Sound in a 6/1/35 photo) 3/28, after an earthquake struck here late 3/27. The violent tremors sent 10-foot tidal waves smashing against the city's shores, causing widespread damages.
