Tony Esposito

Goalie, 5'11" 190 lbs. Born: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario April 23 1943. Home: Sault Saint Marie, Ontario and Chicago, Illinois. Tony came up to the NHL in the 1968-1969 season with Montreal where he played 13 games, 2 of them shutouts. In his official rookie season of 1969-1980, Tony set a modern-era record of 15 shutouts, thus leading the Chicago Black Hawks to a first place finish in the Eastern Division For this tremendous performance, Tony was showered with numerous honors. 1. Vezina Trophy - Leading goal tender. 2. Calder Trophy - Rookie of the year. 3. First team all-star. 4. Runner-up for Hart Trophy given to Most Valuable Player. In his second season (1970-1971), Tony was one of the leaders in putting the Black Hawks on top of the Western Division, and into the finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In the offseason, Tony is busy with hockey schools in Canada and the United States.
