Trying to rescue small boy

Police and firemen scramble over hill of sand in construction material yard, Chicago, trying to get at Joseph Cecil, 10, buried in the sand. Rescue efforts, which were futile, center about halfway up the mound, where trapdoor is located. It leads to hopper with Joseph in it. Boys with Joseph sit disconsolately by. They got in through hole in fence yard.
