Information from clipping dated January 19, 1945, "The St. Louis Argus": The war Department announced today that a Women's Army Corps unit, composed of Negro Wacs, is being formed for overseas duty and will be sent to a foreign theater upon completion of field training. The Unit, which will form a postal battalion, will be commanded by Negro WAC officers... The ten enlisted women pictured below are on their way to render more vital service to their country In foreign lands. Each of them was selected from the WAC section at Fort Huachuca because of her character and capability, and each volunteered for the over-seas assignment.
