Taking the Work Out of Lawn Mowing. Mowing the family lawn isn't very appealing to most small boys during summer months and countless ways and means are invented to avoid this unpleasant task. But two boys, Bob Switzer (left) and Dick Cowper worked out an brilliant idea and with help from their pet pony, Bill, all drudgery was taken away from lawn mowing. An old bicycle tire, pieces of rope were all rigged together for the pony's makeshift harness and when the lawnmower was hooked on, the grass cutting became an easy job. Bob and Dick are 13 and 15 years of age respectively.
