Stopping a Base Thief -- A spinning leap clears St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Dick Groat out of the path pf sliding Chicago Cub Nelson Mathews. Groat clutches ball in glove and fingers after he stopped Mathews' attempted steal of second in the second inning of today's game in Chicago. Umpire Mel Steiner indicates "out" call with his thumb. Relay came from Cardinals catcher Tim McCarver.
