Takes defense lie test

John R. Crooker, 31, awaiting trial for murder in the Bel Air slaying of Mrs. Norma McCauley, 33, took a "defense lit test" today in a move expected to test California law. Defense counsel Robert W. Armstrong submitted Crooker to the lie detector and explained that it has been established by California courts that results of a lie detector are not admissible in a criminal trial if the test was given by the prosecution and objected to by the defense, but so far the courts have not been called upon to rule whether or not results of a test made by the defense are admissible over objections by the prosecution. No announcement of the results will be made in advance of the trial.
