Swim Champion Greeted -- Clarke Scholes (center) of Michigan State, winner of Olympic 100-meter free style title, is greeted by his mother, Mrs. Herman Sperlich, and stepfather, Herman Sperlich of Detroit, on his arrival at International Airport, Idlewild today. He was one of 70 U.S. athletes returning from the Olympic Games held in Helsinki, Finland, aboard first of five special flights bringing home the Olympic team.
