In Switzerland, where Curling is a popular sport, men use the broom as energetically as the ladies, in order to help their teammates score points. While the stone slides across the ice to the scoring area, sweeping its pathway helps so it will reach the circles where the points are made. The game is similar in some respects to shuffle board.
