Nancy Penfield (above), 14, is in fair condition today at a suburban hospital after Police Chief Rex Andrews of Winnetka said Copthorne MacDonald, 13, said he shot Nancy in a schoolroom "because she made me lose my girl friends." Police held the boy for questioning. No charge was placed against him.
