New York.......Face distorted by grief Mrs. Benjamin Weiner returns to her home at 68 East 1st Street from the movies to learn that her husband Benjamin has been shot (at left). Thugs who invaded the Weiner apartment felled him with three bullets. One of their wild shots struck the crib where baby Louis was sleeping -- the child, who narrowly escaped death, is pictured at right, in the arms of a neighbor, Mrs. Lottie Bruches. Weiner, identified by police as a former Lepke mobster, was taken to a hospital in dying condition.
