She celebrated her freedom a bit prematurely

Bernice Felton, slim 18-year-old, Rockford, Ill., school-girl, who was recently aquitted on a murder charge, in which her erstwhile lover Lester Brockelhurst, was sentenced to die in the electric chair for the murder of Victor Gates, is pictured during her trial, here. After the trial Bernie and her father, Abraham Felton, started celebrating, only to have the celebration cut short by the mayor, who said that a lot of people resented the verdict, and he suggested they hide. Now, Bernice faces federal charges which may result in a long prison term. In Little Rock, U.S. Commissioner W.M. Rankin ordered her held for the October grand jury on charges of transporting a stolen automobile across a state line.
