Shantz Elected Pirates "Short Man" -- Five-foot six inch Bobby Shantz gets the unanimous vote for the team's "short man" distinction as he reported to the World Champion Pirates opening day workout in Ft. Myers today. Casting their votes are from left: Manager Danny Murtaugh, Elroy Face, five foot six inches and last year's holder of the distinction, Shantz and Harvey Haddix who five feet nine inches. Shantz was acquired from the New York Yankees during the winter.
