The tree stumps now visible on the parched bottom of the lake normally are covered with 40 feet of water. What appears to be a rocket-launching tower in the background is only the water control valve, but generally, just the top is visible.

Ruppert Heiress and Benefactor Miss Helen Winthrope Weyant, former actress who was willed on third of the multi-milli estate of the late Col. Jacob Ruppert, is shown above with her benefactor at the time the ship "Jacob Ruppert" sailed from Bayonne, N.J. on Oct. 13, 1933 with the second Byrd Antarctic Expedition. The other two-thirds of the Ruppert Residuary Estate went to two nieces, Mrs. Joseph Holleran, of Greenwich, Conn., and Mrs. J. B. Maguire, also of Greenwich. The will was admitted to probate in New York, Jan. 20.
