Sea Haven Camp Sea Haven, situated on the shore at the Ipswich end of Plum Island, is the only summer camp in the country for polio afflicted children. Founded in 1947 by Daniel R. Harrington, Sr. of Haverhill, a polio victim in his youth, it is now in its ninth season. Essex County residents and organizations contribute financially and materially to the camp. This year 175 children from Essex and other Massachusetts counties will have vacations of 18 days each.
