An estimated 200 homes were wiped out completely. The dam began leaking before noon and police went through the area ordering the homes evacuated. Because of this action there were but two or three persons reported dead. The water surged through Cloverdale, across Coliseum St. and Rodeo Road and trapped shoppers in commercial stores along Jefferson Blvd.
