West German yachtswoman Edith Baumann was picked up last night by a ship after her tiny racing boat broke up in an Atlantic storm. Miss Baumann, 26, the only woman in a solo yacht race from England to Newport, R.I., radioed for help earlier in the day. She was spotted drifting helplessly about 300 miles north of the Azores Islands.
