Schmeling Is Quizzed over Goebbels 'Slur' Berlin, Germany - Max Schmeling, former world heavyweight champion, and his motion picture star wife, Anny Ondra, who, according to reports, were questioned by high Nazi officials for having talked in public about Propaganda Minister Paul Joseph Goebbels' affair with film actress, Lida Baarova. Schmeling is supposed to have said, "It's a lucky thing for Dr. Goebbels that he never tried to play with Anny, because I would have broken his neck." The former champion vigorously denied that he or his wife were in difficulties with the authorities. This picture, shows Dr. Goebbels greeting Miss Ondra at his home as the Propaganda Minister's wife looks on at the right. This is one of several occasions the film star was a guest of the Nazi Minister so that she could listen to the broadcasts of her husband's fights in America.
