Roxbury girl wins Navy honors

Jacqueline C. Barros, Seaman Apprentice, U.S. Navy, of 18 Ditmas Court, Roxbury, Mass., is awarded the American Spirit Honor Medal and Scroll by Captain F. Gordon Selby, U.S. Navy, at the graduation review at the Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Maryland. Jacqueline enlisted in the Navy November 22, 1955, after working at the Harvard Medical School in Boston. The American Spirit Honor Medal is awarded to the recruit who best expresses the qualities of honor, leadership, initiative, and who sets a high example to Comrades in Arms while undergoing basic training.
