The Puritan, by St. Gaudens. In a little park near the City Library stands this famous statue, which is regarded as one of the finest creations of the sculptor, St. Gaudens. It was erected by Chester W. Chapin, a former president of the Boston & Albany Railroad in honor of his ancestor, Deacon Samuel Chapin a founder of Springfield.
