(Red Sox-Senators) Washington: Ed Brinkman of the Senators slides in with the winning run in 9th inning of 1st game of twin-bill to give Senators a 4-3 win over the Red Sox. Brinkman was on 2nd when play started. The bags were loaded with 1 out. Del Unser hit a roller to Sox shortstop Rico Petrocelli, who threw home to force Sam Bowens. Sox catcher then pegged the ball wildly to first trying to get Unser. Carl Yastrzemski, the first baseman, retrieved the ball but his throw to catcher Tom Satriano (4) was too late.
