Philadelphia: Ronald Singleton (center), 16, who is charged with the bludgeon slayings of his mother, grandmother, and sister, is escorted from police headquarters here by Philadelphia detectives. Singleton allegedly beat the three women to death with a hammer after he was punished for staying out late 4/17.

Slapped with Big Bail--Settimo (Big Sam) Accardi, left, pictured last night on arrival at New York’s Idlewild Airport, was today slapped with a half-million dollar bail by a Federal judge. Accardi, described by the government as an underworld narcotics king, had been hiding out in Italy. In this scene yesterday, Accardi was handcuffed to Michael G. Picini, right, district supervisor in Rome for the U.S. Narcotics Bureau. Accardi, once a lieutenant of late vice king Lucky Luciano, jumped bails totaling $92,500 in 1955 and disappeared.
