Santiago, Chile: An earthquake-triggered landslide blocks a section of the Pan American Highway between Santigao and LLay Llay 3/28. Extensive damage was reported in Llay Llay and in nearby La Calera, where a dam burst swept away scores of homes and may have taken up to 400 lives.
