Facial expressions play an important part in these action pictures made during the Women's Amateur Athletic Championships at White City Stadium, London. Left photo- Miss S. Allday's hair stands on end as she scores in the shot put event. She broke the English native and British national records by half an inch. Her put was 44 feet dead. Right- Mrs. J. Paul (3) gives vent to her feelings as she steps across the finish line to win the 220-yard event. She broke the existing world record and came within two-tenths of a second of the world record awaiting ratification for the same distance. Mrs. Paul's time was 23.8.
