Roger Dedmond, shown in a photo from files, maintained his innocence a year ago when his wife was found strangled to death in adjoining Union County. He was convicted of the slaying, however, on the strength of an alleged verbal confession given arresting officers. It now appears he may go free, his innocence proven, in the wake of the arrest of millhand Lee Roy Martin, charged 2/17 in the strangulation deaths of three other women.
