Professor accused of murder goes to court

Athens, Ohio -- -- Ohio University professor Gene Stees, 30, center, pleaded innocent today upon arraignment here on a first degree murder charge. He is accused of beating his wife to death with a crowbar, sealing her in a steel drum and then dumping her in a lake. The drum and body were recovered by divers Thursday. With Stees today as he left jail to go to court were Sheriff Harold Shields, left, and Deputy Sheriff DeWitt Walker, right.
