Legros, Alphonse, 1837-1911 · [ca. 1854–1911]
The procession comes from outside and crosses the nave. The faithful kneel in the passage; at left, in the choir, groups of choir children and priests; one plays the organ, the other the cello. A new effect is given by the use of a whiter paper and a blacker ink, and by wiping the plate very clean, leaving no tone on the unetched areas. Much of the work in the background has been reduced. The face and hands of the figures kneeling behind the grill at the right have been clealry defined.
