In the foreground, Aeneas has just awakened and rests on his bed. He is startled when he sees, right behind him, the ghost of Hector. Hector is naked and holds his round shield in his left arm and his lance, with the point lowered, in his right hand. On the left, a lamp at the bedside of Aeneas casts light and illuminates the columns in the background.
