River Ice Jam Threatens Houses--A four mile ice jam on the Fox River has caused flood conditions north of here and threatens these houses at Dayton today. Many families have been forced to leave their homes in this area southwest of Chicago. Officials said it appeared that only thawing weather would break the jam which has raised the river 24 feet above flood level.
