Prince Henry, the navigator of Portugal 1394-1460. His exploration and scientific accomplishments dispelled the legend of the Tenebrous Sea. Beaconed the ocean route to India and opened the gateway of the Atlantic to the American People. Erected by the People of Portuguese descent of New England and Friends, June 31, 1940.
