Quizzed about slaying of divorcee

John R. Crooker, 34, former graduate law student at UCLA and former houseboy at the home of Mrs. Norma McCauley, 33, is questioned by police earlier today at her home. Deputy chief of police Thad Brown said it was learned that Crooker once proposed to Mrs. McCauley, a wealthy divorcee, and threatened to kill her when she refused him. Police said they were interested in what appeared to be scratches under left chin.
