S.S. United States. New flagship of the United States Lines, maiden voyage from New York, July 3, 1952. This vessel is 990 feet long, 101 ft. six inches wide and 53,300 gross tons. She is the largest, fastest, and finest vessel ever built in the United States and the world's most modern liner. She has accommodations for 2000 passengers. The superliner United States joins the popular America in transatlantic service.
