Rev. Ralph David Abernathy, dressed in blue denim jacket and pants, addressed a group called Business Executives Move for Viet Peace and said 30 million poor people were becoming desperate. Abernathy, leader of the Poor People's March and head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference said, "It is suicidal for any nation to develop a people who do not feel they have a stake in that society."
