Rev. Ralph Abernathy set the stage 6/22 for a confrontation with the Federal Govt. by vowing to keep his followers at Resurrection City beyond the 6/23 deadline. In a mock ceremony, during the Resurrection City press conference, Abernathy was given “a proclamation of temporary cession” turning over “the tract known as Resurrection City” by the American Indian contingent.
