Robert C. Hoffman, 19, a vacuum cleaner salesman, sits between state's attorney and court reporter today as he is questioned about death by gunshot of 19-year-old Patricia Schwartz, a telephone operator, in a tavern. State's Attorney John C. Friedlund, left, said Hoffman admitted firing the shot from a distance of about three feet. Court reporter is D. V. Sheffer, right. Hoffman's request he take her home was rejected, the state's attorney said Hoffman told him.
