John R. Crooker (left), 34, leaves a police station last night between sessions of questioning about the death yesterday of a wealthy divorcee, Mrs. Norma McCauley, 33. With him is Det. Sgt. Jack Gotch. Mrs. McCauley was stabbed and strangled in her luxurious hilltop home. Crooker, a law student, once worked as a houseboy at the McCauley home. Deputy police chief Thad Brown said it was learned that Crooker once proposed to the divorcee and threatened to kill her when she refused him.
