Police routed 400 protesters at Stanford University when they defied orders to break up an unruly antiwar demonstration outside the Stanford Research Institute. Before they scattered, the demonstrators set fire to barricades used to block streets near the SRI building. There were 15 arrests-six women and nine men--as police used tear gas to rout the dissidents.
