Louis Saint-Gaudens was the brother of Augustus Saint Gaudens. His lions were installed in the Grand Stairway as the memorial for the 2nd and 20th Massachusetts Infantry Regiments. Model is of the lion ultimately placed on south side of staircase commemorating the 20th Regiment. Photo No. 45 by Edward Stevens, Clerk of Works.
