Gun totin' Mrs. Mary Burkland will take over as Montour County's first woman sheriff today. The 5' 4" brunette is taking over for her husband, Sheriff Bob Burkland, who is being called up tomorrow with Danville's Battery A, 176th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. She is believed to be the only woman sheriff in the state.
